What a comeback!...Nifty ends above 6000
Just when we thought that the bears were going to extend their hold came a spectacular comeback by the bulls! Not only that, the stunning turnaround came on a day when the total market turnover touched a new record of Rs2.2 lakh crores.
After being under pressure for two trading days and most part of today’s session, the bulls returned with gusto in the last hour of the session. The Indian markets started off today with slight gains and turned lackluster, extending the recent trend, before shooting up in the last hour.
"The late swing was led by Banking, FMCG and Metals stocks. The turnover was huge owing partly to the of F&O expiry", says Amar Ambani, Vice President, Research – India Private Clients, IIFL.
Finally, the BSE Sensex rose by ~113 points to close at 20,069. The index hit an intra-day high of 20,115 and an intra-day low of 19,864.
The NSE Nifty gained 39 points to close at 6,030 after touching a high of 6,048 and a low of 5,963.
