Markets may see flat opening
The Indian markets may begin the trade on a flat note on the back of mixed Asian cues. Headlines for the day: FII holding in BoB falls below threshold limit: RBI. Maruti Suzuki to set up R&D centre at Rohtak. Govt allows RIL-BP to survey only 5 gas fields in KG-D6 block. TRAI sets steep minimum price for 2G spectrum auction. Events for the day: Results: ING Vysya Bank, Sesa Goa, Petronet LNG. Indian Indices: The Indian markets are likely to open the trade on a flat to positive note on account of quiet Asian cues. Lack of support from global peers may lead to a lacklustre trade. Investors will keep a close eye on shares of ING Vysya Bank, Sesa Goa and Petronet LNG as the companies announce results today. The markets are likely to trade rangebound. Volatility may remain as earnings may impact sentiments. Global Indices: Asian shares are trading mixed on Tuesday (April 24, 2012), as political uncertainty and disappointing data in Europe raised fears that the euro zone could struggle to push through austerity measures and may stay in recession until late in the year. European shares fell to a three-month low in brisk volume on Monday (April 23, 2012) as worsening global economic conditions and political uncertainty in France and the Netherlands threatened to deepen the euro zone's crisis. US stocks fell on Monday as political turmoil in Europe cast doubts on the euro zone's ability to push through measures to end its debt crisis and as Wal-Mart sank following a report it stymied a bribery probe. Commodity Cues: Oil edged lower on Monday on pressure from revived concerns about a euro zone economic slump and political uncertainty, while a North Sea production problem and worries about Iran and potential supply disruptions limited losses.
