Asian stock markets were mostly higher on Friday as the positive cues on Wall Street boosted confidence in the economic recovery. Resource and energy stocks led the gains for a second day running as commodity prices stayed buoyant.
Japanese benchmark index Nikkei 225 gained 59.19 points, or 0.60%, to trade at 9,891.66.
Hong Kong`s Hang Seng index was flat down by 2.48 points, or 0.01%, to trade at 21,490.42.
China`s Shanghai Composite index gained 86.13 points, or 3.10%, to trade at 2,865.56.
Taiwan`s Taiex index climbed 26.87 points, or 0.36%, to trade at 7,530.18.
South Korea`s Kospi index advanced 20.66 points, or 1.28% to trade at 1,636.12.
Singapore`s Straits Times lost 8.27 points, or 0.31%, to trade at 2,642.68. (8.15 a.m., IST)
