Asian Markets open positive


Asian stocks gained, led by Japanese automakers and the region`s mining companies, as the yen weakened and commodity prices rose.

Toyota Motor advanced more than 3%.

Japanese benchmark index Nikkei advanced 114.37 points, or 1.57%, to trade at 7,382.93.

Hong Kong`s Hang Seng index gained 181.34 points, or 1.42%, to trade at 12,979.86.

China`s Shanghai Composite fell 4.65 points, or 0.21%, to trade at 2,196.01.

Taiwan`s Taiex index rose 95.39 points, or 2.15%, to trade at 4,525.57.

South Korea`s Kospi index climbed 9.21 points, or 0.87%, to trade at 1,073.09.

Singapore`s Straits Times advanced 12.26 points, or 0.76%, to trade at 1,626.70. (7.42 a.m., IST).
